Meta Uses ‘Level Up’ Game to Boost Employee AI Adoption: Report

Meta is closely tracking how its employees use artificial intelligence tools through internal dashboards and has introduced a gamified program to boost participation, according to a report by Business Insider.

The company’s Reality Labs division has reportedly set a goal of achieving over 75% AI adoption across its teams. Internal sources told Business Insider that the initiative includes a voluntary game called “Level Up”, which rewards employees with badges as they reach various AI usage milestones.

While participation expectations differ across departments, some teams are encouraged to experiment freely, while others are required to meet specific adoption targets, the report said.

The move reflects a wider industry shift as major tech firms encourage internal use of generative AI to improve productivity. Business Insider noted that Google is measuring performance gains from AI tools, while Microsoft has begun linking AI adoption to employee performance reviews.

A Meta spokesperson confirmed that expanding internal use of AI tools is a strategic company priority.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has previously said he expects AI systems to reach the capabilities of a mid-level engineer by the end of 2025. He also predicted that AI coding agents will manage a significant share of research and development tasks by mid-to-late 2026.

The internal gamification effort underscores Meta’s broader ambition to accelerate AI integration within its workforce as part of its long-term innovation roadmap.
