Dr. Saif Uddin Ahmed appointed as e-CAB administrator

Dr. Saif Uddin Ahmed, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce, has been appointed as the new administrator of the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB).
He replaces Deputy Secretary Muhammad Saeed Ali.
The appointment follows Section 17 of the Trade Organization Act 2022, which stipulates that upon the completion of an administrator’s tenure, a successor is named to oversee electoral preparations. Saeed Ali served from September 11, 2023, to September 10, 2024.
Under the rules, the newly appointed administrator must update the voter list and conduct elections within 120 days, before transferring authority to an elected executive committee and formally notifying the ministry.
The appointment was announced in an official circular issued on Sunday by Muhammad Rehan Uddin, Director General of the Ministry’s Trade Organization Wing-2.
However, it was noted that Dr. Ahmed did not visit the e-CAB office on September 29, a day after his appointment was made public.
